The Stone RosesThe Stone rose have recently announced that they will release five singles in 2009.

The Manchester legends are set to reissue 5 singles this year in conjunction with the 20th anniversary reissue of their album ‘Stone Roses’.

One single a week is to be issued started from July 6th. The singles will be issued on seven-inch vinyl as well as digital download formats. Each release will come with previously unreleased recordings.

The sinlges to be released will be ‘Elephant Stone’, ‘Made of Stone’, ‘She Bangs the Drums’, ‘Fools Gold’ and ‘One Love’.

summer sundaeThe Super Furry Animals and Teenage Fanclub have been booked to play at the 2009 Summer Sundae festival, taking place on 25th & 26th July at Clapham Common.

Both acts are booked to play on Saturday along side King Creosote and I’am Kloot.

Camera Obscura, The Human League and The Futureheads will be playing on the sold-out 26th July.

The Maccabees are set to play two New York shows this month. The London band will be playing Manhattan’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on 20th June followed by Brooklyn’s Mercury Lounge two days later on 22nd June to promote their upcoming album ‘Wall Of Arms’.

‘Wall of Arms’ is The Maccabees follow-up to their previous album ‘Colour It In’ and was produced by Marcus Dravs who’s previously worked with Arcade Fire, Coldplay and Bjork.

The US release date is waiting to be announced.

Michael JacksonMichael Jackson will be turning Foxbury Manor in Chistlehurst in Kent into a replica of his Neverland Ranch.

Michael Jackson has been renting the Kent manor house for his 50 night O2 residency which is set to start in July. He has told tour promoters AEG that he wants a funfair installed in the grounds as well as a bowling alley which is set to be installed inside the £15,000,000 historic property.

oasisOasis have been forced to abandon their headline show at Heaton Park in Manchester after major technical difficulties.

The band left the stage during the opening songs while generator problems were fixed. Once fixed they returned to play a full live set and vowed to refund all 70,000 fans in attendance.

Oasis started thier set with the classic ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Star’ following on after support slots from Twisted Wheel, Reverend And THe Makers and Kasabian.

The song was stopped half way through due to sound problems. Oasis headed off stage to the sound off boos from the crowd.

Oasis returned 10 minutes later to play ‘Lyla’, but once more got cut short due to sound problems.

The problems where sorted in around 40 minutes and Oasis re-strated thier set with ‘The Shock of the Lightning’ and ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’.

Liam Gallagher told the crowd “Really sorry about that, this is a free gig now. Everyone will get a refund.”

Noel then added “The curfew’s 11, but we’ll play till they kick us off. Keep your tickets and you’ll get you money back.”

jay-zAmerican Hip-hop star Jay-Z has topped the ‘Power 30′ list, compiled by influential hip-hop magazine ‘The Source’.

Although not releasing an album for two years, Jay-Z topped the list due to his enterpenurial ventures with Rocawear, Live Nation and his part-ownership of New Jersey Nets basketball team.

P. Diddy, 50 Cent, Will.I.Am, Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne also made the list.

Barack Obama’s influence on the new hip-hop generation got an honourable mention.

katy-perryKaty Perry finally spoke out after Gossip’s frontwoman Beth Dito, who is lesbian, accused Katy Perry of using lyrics that are offensive to gay culture in her hit single ‘I Kissed A Girl’. Katy told The London Paper “I don’t want to get into a slagging war with anybody so I don’t want to say anything bad about her… But I’m no impressed.”

Ditto had publicly described the Katy Perry single as a , “Boner dyke anthem for straight girls who like to turn on by making out or, like, faking gay” she later added, “Katy Perry is just riding on the back of our culture, without having to pay any of the dues and not being actually lesbian or anything at all.”
